Terms

VolunAura is operated by VolunAura, a Washington nonprofit corporation ("VolunAura", "we", "us"). These terms apply to everyone who uses the platform: volunteers, and the organizations that publish shifts on it. By using VolunAura, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

What VolunAura is, and is not

VolunAura is software for scheduling volunteers. Organizations use it to publish shifts and manage their own rosters; volunteers use it to find and sign up for those shifts.

VolunAura is not the organizer, employer, agent, partner, or supervisor of any organization or volunteer. We do not run shifts, direct work, or provide supervision, training, equipment, or insurance.

We do not screen, vet, interview, background-check, or verify volunteers or organizations. We do not verify the accuracy of a shift description, a stated requirement, an age limit, a waiver, a certification, or an organization's insurance or permissions. Any agreement about volunteer work is between the volunteer and the organization.

Your account

You agree to use an email address that is accurate and that you control, and to keep it current. Sign-in links we email you work like a password: anyone with the link can use your account until it expires. Keep them private, and tell us at support@volunaura.org if you think someone else has access to your account or your mailbox.

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • create accounts automatically, sign up for shifts in bulk, or scrape the platform;
  • work around rate limits, bot checks, or other access controls;
  • try to reach data that is not yours, or use another person's account;
  • submit false or misleading information, including someone else's email address;
  • harass, threaten, or endanger anyone, or use the service unlawfully;
  • interfere with the operation of the service.

If you volunteer

  • Sign up only for shifts you intend to work.
  • If you cannot make it, withdraw as early as you can so someone on the waitlist can take the spot.
  • Follow the organization's instructions, safety rules, and the direction of its coordinators while you are on site.
  • You are responsible for deciding whether a task is suitable for you, and for meeting any requirement, waiver, age limit, or consent the organization sets.

If you are an organization

  • You are solely responsible for your shifts: safety, supervision, site permissions, equipment, insurance, and accurate descriptions of what the work involves.
  • You define and verify your own volunteer requirements, waivers, minimum ages, and any parental consent you need. VolunAura records what you tell it; it does not check it.
  • You decide what volunteer information your managers collect and see, and you are responsible for how your people use it and for complying with the laws that apply to you.
  • You handle questions about your own shifts, including day-of contact with your volunteers.
  • You are responsible for the content you publish through VolunAura and for keeping it lawful and accurate.

Email and notifications are not guaranteed

VolunAura sends email through outside providers. Messages can be delayed, filtered into spam, blocked, or fail to arrive, and we cannot control that. Do not treat VolunAura email as your only notice of a shift, a change, a cancellation, or anything else that matters to you. Check your commitments in the app, and organizations should confirm anything urgent directly with their volunteers.

Automated messages come from an address that is not monitored. Write to support@volunaura.org instead of replying to them.

Assumption of risk and release

Volunteering can involve physical work, tools, vehicles, weather, animals, food handling, and other people. Those risks are inherent to the activity, and you accept them when you sign up for a shift.

To the fullest extent the law allows, you release VolunAura from any claim, demand, or damages arising out of a shift, an organization, another user, or anything that happens at a volunteer activity you found through the platform.

Service provided as-is

VolunAura is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that email will be delivered, or that stored data will never be lost.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, including features an organization relies on.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, VolunAura and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunities, missed shifts, or undelivered messages.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. Where that is the case, these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold VolunAura harmless from claims, damages, and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the service, your breach of these terms, the content you publish, or your conduct at a volunteer activity.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove an account, with or without notice, if we believe it is being used abusively, unlawfully, or in a way that puts other people or the service at risk. You may stop using VolunAura at any time; to close an account and remove your personal information, write to privacy@volunaura.org.

Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the update.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Questions: support@volunaura.org.
